Sorry Guys!

Sorry I missed the ballet week post yesterday and Wednesday! I started school yesterday, so I won't have as much time for everything, especially with four hours of homework a night, and at least an hour of studying. My hardest class is Honors French, but it comes easy to me so I'll be fine. Oh, and would you mind praying for my friend Cathleen, please? She just got her appendix out. She'll be fine though. She's a trooper;)

I'll have two for you tonight!

Good luck to all who start/started school!

Nina:)

Ballet Week: How to Make A Ballet Barre

At the beginning of every class, ballerinas stretch at the barre, which is, you guessed it, a bar attached to the wall of on two supports. And they are so easy to make!
 You will need:

  • A wrapping paper roll
  • Two boxes
  • Tape

 1. If you'd like, decorate your barre. I did wood detailing on mine!
 2. Use the tape to attach the tube to your boxes.
And voila, you have a barre!

Remember to enter the giveaway! Have a great day!

Ballet Week: How to Make a Doll Tutu and Special Surprise!

Today for Ballet Week, we are going to make an iconic tutu! Though they are not worn to class/practice and pretty much only used for recitals, they are a symbol of ballet worldwide. (And since these are dolls, they can wear their tutus to class if you want!
 You'll need:

  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Tulle/sheer fabric
  • Doll (for sizing)

 1. Cut your fabric into long strips (about an inch longer that your doll's leg, or mid-shin for Barbie/other fashion dolls).
 2. Take your ribbon...
...and tie it around your doll, leaving enough so it can be tied in a bow. Snip it.
 3. Begin tying your strips onto your ribbon, having the close together.
 And you're done!
Tie it on your doll. If you have a ballet leotard, that's awesome, but one piece suits and gymnastics leotards work. And you could alway use a shirt, too!
Now... Time for the SPECIAL SURPRISE!!!!

We are having...

Ballet Week: How to Make Ballet Slippers

Ballet Week is in full swing! So before you start ballet class, you need some ballet slippers! So why don't we make some?
 You'll Need

  • Fabric (pink is best, but any color is fine)
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • A pair of doll shoes (you need both shoes)
  • A pen (or pencil, but no marker)
  • Scissors
  • A standard-size hair elastic (try to stay away from black; it bleeds easily)
Nina the Shark offered to help me, so you'll see her throughout the post!

 1. Trace two of each shoe onto the fabric.
It's a good idea to draw a line in between which tracings came from what foot.
 2. Add an oval in the middle of one tracing from each foot. Make yours smaller than mine!!!!!
 3. Cut them out.
 4. Carefully cut out the circle on the feet with them. Now, for each foot, you have a doughnut piece and a solid piece.
 5. Sew them together. CAUTION: Needles are sharp. If you are not that experienced in sewing and/or you're on the younger side, you should have an adult help you and/or be present.

 6. Cut the hair elastic so it looks like this:

 7. Lay the elastic across the slipper and cut it to size.
 8. Sew it on.
9. Turn inside out and enjoy your new slippers! (Hint: There's a spoiler in this picture!)
I hope you enjoyed the first day of Ballet Week! I have a surprise tomorrow, so stray tuned!

I GOT TAGGED!

I got tagged! Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooo much beast'sbelle! You are one of my all-time favorite bloggers, so it really means a lot!

Question Time!

1.  Why did you start blogging?
Well, we were on our way home from a road trip, and I all the sudden said, "I should start a blog." And the rest is history:)
2.  What is your fashion style?
Nerdy. I'm always that girl wearing the collared shirts and Mary Janes:)

3.  What is something your followers don't know about you?
Ummm... I'm right handed, I'm allergic to pine trees, coconut, juniper bush, and rosemary, I can walk to my cousins' house, I have a special surprise being announced later :x

4.  What is one of your blogging goals?
To post more and to make new friends!

5.  Where is your favorite place to shop?
Target, Toys R Us, The AG store;)

6.  What would your ideal amount of followers be?
I'd rather have three followers that comment and read this and are my friends than three hundred that are ghosts:) Thanks for getting my to 31 followers!!!!!

7.  What are your talents?
I play the violin, am in Scrabble Club, ballet, orchestra, joining choir (hope I make it!), act, can play a little piano, swimming, and writing.

8.  Are you a leader or a follower?
LEADER!!! I'm 100% outgoing, and I LOVE being in charge! Another weird fact about me, I LOVE public speaking! All eyes are on ME, so I'm the center of attention!

9.  What is your favorite quote?
"I am not pretty. I am not beautiful. I am as radiant as the sun." -The Hunger Games

10.  Do you have a favorite book or book series?
Wellllll, I read for at least an hour a day, but my favorites are all AG books, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay, The Misspellers, Wonderstruck, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, The Doll People, The Meanest Doll in the World, Midnight in the Dollhouse, Nancy Drew, Delirium, Pandemonium, Requiem, Divergent, Insurgent, The Wrong Channel, and Touch Blue.

11.   Out of all the synonyms for elegant, which would you describe yourself with (smart, dressy, stylish, graceful, or fine)?
Ummm... Smart, I guess I do pretty well in school. I did get honor role 8 consecutive times, and I haven't set anything on fire (yet, and I have come pretty close), so I guess I'm smart. Dressy, yes. Everyone always says I'm "too fancy" for the occasion. Stylish, NO. I hate jeans, short shorts make me cringe (when they're on me), sneakers and TOMS are just NOT me, so really, NO. Graceful, no, I say, as I fall on my face. Sure I can stay upright in ballet and pull of shenés, but there is an ongoing saying in my class- "I don't know how many times a day I hear 'Waaaah, clunk, ''I'm okay!"'":I Fine? I don't even know.

12.   What is your favorite flower?
I love lilacs and roses, but ALL flowers are pretty!

I tag...
